Pillow Thoughts is a beautifully written poetry collection that takes you through love and loss. The blurb of this book says ‘make yourself a cup of tea and let yourself feel’ and I couldn’t agree more. This book is the perfect one to curl up with on a rainy afternoon when you’re feeling melancholy with a cup of tea (chai being my favourite, but whatever brew suits your fancy).

This poetry collection is divided into ten sections for when you need to read each section the most. It takes you through love, heartbreak, soul-searching, motivation and so much more.

I loved this book and it was the perfect start to 2019. Although I only gave this book four stars, I am tempted to up it to a five star rating because I loved it that much. It was definitely a read that I needed at this time in my life with the relationships that are both forming and breaking in my life and in relation to my own mental health.

Each and every poem was written beautifully and touched me in a way that was different from the rest. However, my favourite is still the one at the very beginning which is placed before the contents page as it is the motivation and reassurance that I find myself needing on a daily basis.

As stated there are ten sections to this book and each one is different in its own way and are there when you need a certain something.

I can see myself rereading this book over and over again in the future, reading each section when I need it as I already know that it is going to be a book that helps me grow and heal.

Overall, this book was the perfect blend of happy and sad that I needed and I recommend it to anyone who is into this type of poetry. I cannot wait to pick up the follow on to this book, Pillow Thoughts II, as soon as I get my next pay-check through.

A beautifully written masterpiece.

Have you read this book? What did you think?

In 2019 I am hoping to read more poetry so do you have any recommendations?

Let me know in the comments!
