I am finally uploading my first top five Wednesday post! Hurray! I have been a part of this group for a very long time but never got round to actually writing up and uploading my first post for it but here we are today!
If you don’t know, top five Wednesday is a book meme created by Lainey over at GingerReadsLainey on YouTube where each Wednesday there is a different topic to discuss. If you want to join go check out the GoodReads group!
Today’s topic is all about hyped 2019 releases that I just don’t care about so let’s get shady and get into the topic!
I feel like this post is going to be so controversial but no hate please!
Disclaimer: You can like and be excited for all of these! I’m happy that you’re excited for them, my opinion isn’t gospel. Also who knows if I will pick up any of these int he future. Just because I’m not interested now, doesn’t mean I wont be in the future.
1. Capturing the Devil by Keri Maniscalco
The only reason this one is on the list is because I haven’t read the rest of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series yet. I have got the first one on my TBR shelf s maybe I’ll pick it up and my mind on this one will change, although I’m a bit apprehensive on starting this one.
2. The Wicked King by Holly Black
The first one that came straight to my mind is The Wicked King despite the fact that I will probably pick it up at some point. I did really enjoy The Cruel Prince which is the first book in this series but since reading it last year I’ve just lost interest in it and slowly had more problems with some aspects of it arise. As I said though, I will probably still pick this one up.
3. On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
I absolutely adored Angie Thomas’ first book that I’m sure you’ve all heard of, The Hate U Give. However, I’m just not that interested in this one. The story doesn’t seem like something that would engage me and therefore I don’t want to pick it up.
4. Enchantée by Gita Trelease
I’m actually a bit torn about this one so I might end up picking it up depending on what I hear about it but it doesn’t seem like the fantasy that I would enjoy and devour which is why I’m putting it on this list. However, if I hear good things about it, I might give it a go.
5. A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
I am just so done with the Beauty and the Beasts retellings, maybe it’s my dislike for ACOTAR getting in the way or maybe it’s the fact that I don’t enjoy the original story as every other reader seems to. I just think it’s an overdone idea and therefore I am not interested in this one despite everyone else singing it’s praises from the rooftop.
So that’s my T5W post! What hyped books are you not interested in? Let me know in the comments!
