Most Anticipated Releases of January and February 2019

When I was scrolling through the list of books that were being released this year to sort out those that I was excited for I discovered that there were quite a few that piqued my interest and I couldn’t simply write about them all in one post. That is why I’m going to write up a post bi-monthly and talk about what books I’m excited for in those upcoming months. For the months of January and February we have 10 books to talk about so let’s get into it!

1. Evermore by Sara Holland

Release Date: 31st December 2018

Okay, so maybe this book came out last year but I’m still going to include it because it came out so close to 2019 that it’s basically the same thing, right? This my blog I can do what I want!

Evermore is the sequel to Everless a fantasy set in a world where time is currency and can be drawn from your blood. The first book really impressed me and I can’t wait to see how this story continues and where these characters go.

2. Famous is a Small Town by Emma Mills

Release Date: 15th January

I haven’t read from Emma Mills before but I have seen her other two books on the bookish social media and they have really intrigued me which is why I want to pick this one up as well. It also helps that all of her covers are absolutely stunning.

3. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

Release Date: 29th January

This book is the first instalment in a new duology in Leigh Bardugo’s well known Grishaverse. I have yet to finish the books that are already out in this chronicle of books but I am still so excited for King of Scars because it follows one of my favourite characters, Nikolai and I can’t wait to read more about it.

4. Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers

Release Date: 5th February

This book is the first of a new fantasy duology following one of deaths daughters. Now if you need any more information than that to be sold then I don’t know what else to tell you. This book seems to be about family and in particular sisters which I am all about since I have an older sister myself.

5. The Cerulean by Amy Ewing

Release Date: 5th February

This one is about a girl who has to jump of the edge of her land in the City Above the Sky and kill herself to sacrifice herself for her people but she ends up surviving the fall and ends up amongst the humans. It is about her trying to get home and is one that I am definitely looking forward to.

6. Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins

Release Date: 5th February

I already have an ARC of this one and I am excited to pick it up. This one is about two girls both eat in two different time periods, 1913 and 2077. I believe it is a time-travel story about two girls who end up getting caught up in each others lives. I haven’t read a time-travel novel before and so I am excited to give this one a go.

7. A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa B. Sheimel

Release Date: 5th February

Hannah has been institutionalised after what happened to her roommate at the summer programme but she doesn’t believe she is a harm to herself or others. Then Lucy arrives who might be able to get Hannah to confront the truth. This one seems like a gripping thriller that I am excited to give a go.

8. The Past and Other Things That Should Stay Buried by Shaun David Hutchinson

Release Date: 19th February

Dino’s family runs a funeral home and so he is used to being surrounded by the dead. That is however, until his ex-best fiend dies and then comes back to life. This one is about the two of them trying to work out what happened while also trying to understand what happened to their friendship. I love a book about friendship and I hope this one does this unique story idea justice.

9. Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

Release Date: 26th February

I’m not too sure what this one is about but it seems like a fierce fantasy that I won’t be able to put down. I believe it involves a thief and when she sees the four queens of the land get murdered she takes on a job with the person she had stolen from to see what happens.

10. We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia

Release Date: 26th February

This book is set in a world where the women of the rich are either told to run a household or look after the children meanwhile the lower classes are causing an uprising to bring more equality to the land. This seems like the perfect feminist fantasy and I can’t wait to dive into it.

So they are the books that I am looking forward to in January and February! What books are you looking forward to in these two months? Let me know in the comments.
